Dawes Design
Jennifer Dawes lives in rural Northern California where she has distilled her knowledge
of metalsmithing into an exquisite line of jewelry. This versatile collection can be mixed
together to create a contemporary playful look while keeping to a classical ideology.
Each piece is handmade, fabricated and finished at Jennifer’s studio in the coastal hills
of Sonoma County, California.
Jennifer just recently launched Sustainably Beautiful, her initiative in creating jewelry
in a socially and environmentally responsible way. She only uses recycled gold, conflict
free diamonds and responsibly mined stones. “I try to leave as small a footprint on this
planet as possible.”
Dawes Design is a “slow business” where everything is made locally and sourced using
sustainable businesses that use recycled products.
Here are a few of our favorites! We want one … is anyone listening?
Wear-It-Forever

Playing with notions of art through nature is what Sarah Perlis does best. Her handmade
jewelry is created in her downtown New York City studio. Her newest collection, "In the
Rough," incorporates 22k recycled gold and alluvial responsibly mined diamonds, which
are panned, not mined, from Sierra Leone. The chicks not only love her whimsical look
and feel but her socially responsible attitude. We can imagine one of her stunning rings
as your wear-it-forever engagement / wedding ring. This is definite a hint hint post to all
the guys out there.

Drink Green!
There are tons of ways to have a socially responsible wedding and still make it as fun as
ever. Anything that you can do to lessen your carbon footprint on your big day is better
than nothing. When stocking up the bar consider purchasing organic wines, champanges
and yes even the hard stuff. K & L Wine Merchant has a vast collection that you can
purchase online for not much more than you would pay for a non organic product.
• 4 Copas 100% Organic Tequila Blanco 750ml $53.99
• Jean-Francois Merieau “Bulles” Touraine Sparkling $15.99
• François Pinon Vouvray Pétillant Brut $18.99
No Blood Diamonds - Let's BAND together!

Let's all get a little more socially responsible. Do not purchase a diamond if it is a 'Blood'
or 'Conflict' diamond. Conflict diamonds are diamonds that originate from areas controlled
by forces or factions opposed to legitimate and internationally recognized governments,
and are used to fund military action in opposition to those governments, or in contravention
of the decisions of the Security Council. Ask your jeweler about the diamond before you buy.
Who needs a rock that stands for violence? Our cool chicks certainly don't! Above are some
great platinum bands from Tiffany & Co.
